Fragmented
Key to this fragmented project was the use of
Potrace (specifically the
AS3 Port)on down-sampled images to produce tracings of
key features. Running on the high-quality original image proved too lengthy and often crashed
the software, down-sampling to 3/4 of the size was generally enough to produce a decent tracing
within 10 seconds.
Tweaking the spacing between points helped to gain some control over the final render, namely how tightly
packed the black line are and inversely how large the filled regions are.
Stylistically the resulting renders aim to convey an almost recognisable scene. Spaces, objects and
colours that we feel we may have seen before, lines and curves that perhaps form a window frame or
maybe a door.
