Branching #2

Exploring recursive branching at a high-resolution.

Colour palettes are pulled from the Brands project.

Custom tooling was built to explore different palettes, branching factors and rendering techniques.

Each 'tree' starts in the centre of the canvas, the direction is randomized. A dark version of the 'tree' is first rendered and then a lighter version to create more depth and texture.

The much higher resolution requires much longer strands and this in turn means the probability of branching must be significantly lower to prevent the render not completing.

This creates a really rich and dense structure which inspired the more refined Cortext series.

FAQ

Can this exact image be re-produced? No, as the tree grows and branches, random numbers are used to determine direction and length. An image in a similar style could be produced however.

Are there any other images on this website that were generated by this algorithm?

Is this a limited edition print? No
